We are currently looking for a Support Worker in the Newark-On-Trent area of Nottinghamshire. You will be providing fantastic care and support to young adults with profound learning & physical disabilities. This is a typical example of someone you may support: -
Hello, my name is Henry, I am 19 years old and I live with 7 of my close friends, most of us get along but we can disagree sometimes.
I have severe autism and I really struggle communicating with my voice, I use Makaton and visual aids to help others know what I mean. I can also get frustrated when I can’t tell you what I want, and I can throw things, scream or hit myself. I can’t control this behaviour and I don’t mean to hurt anyone.
I do really enjoy living here, I have my own room and I meet my friends in the kitchen, lounge or garden to do activities. Last night we were making pizzas and popcorn to have alongside our movie night. Last weekend we went for a long walk in the fresh air and I really enjoyed feeling the breeze on my face. I like the park and sitting on the swings, my Support Worker Maxwell pushes me, and it makes me laugh.
At home we have sensory rooms and I also have my own guinea pig called Bert. I love watching Bert, he makes me calm and I have a little job to do which is to feed him, clean his cage and brush his fur so it doesn’t get knotty.
The staff are helpful and caring, they are so patient with me and they help me with my personal care, prompting and encouraging me to have life skills and excellent social opportunities.
Why not come and join our team? We have full time day and night Support Worker job roles available at £7.65 p/h rising after probation, free meals are included, and car drivers are essential. Click on ‘APPLY’ and you could help make a difference to another young adult like Henry and what’s better than that?
