THE COMPANY: Our client operate a successful, oversubscribed 11-16 Voluntary Aided High School in the Diocese of Lancaster. There are currently 818 pupils on roll. The school is situated in Lytham and is very easily accessible from Preston, Lancaster and East Lancashire via excellent motorway links. M55 Junction 4, for example, is only 3 miles away. 

The School now have a vacancy for an experienced and motivated School Business Manager with a strong financial background to join their team.

THE ROLE: As a School Business Manager you will report to the Headteacher and will be responsible in overseeing the day-to-day management of the effective and efficient operations of the financial, human resource, health and safety and premises / admin functions of the school.

Key Responsibilities for the School Business Manager's role in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire :

- To be responsible for the business and financial management of school resources including budget/ financial planning and advice to the senior leadership team, governing body and external agencies as well as managing the school admin functions 
- Manage the school care taking, housekeeping and welfare staff as well as the administration of human resources for teaching and support staff; including the registration of NQTs
- Develop appropriate policies in line with local authority guidelines and make pro active contributions to the school improvement plan
- Develop income generating activities including preparation of and submission of bids for funding to external agencies
- Manage the facilities, including premises, lettings and liaise with external contractors and
ensure compliance and regulations are met
- Be the Health & Safety Manager for the school under the headteacher, and ensure risk assessments are updated
- To act as systems manager for SIMS ensuring appropriate access levels and registering new, and temporary, members of staff
- Manage the database behind the Evolve system and to be a back-up Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) as well as coordinate the preparations for Consultation and Review Day
- Oversee the delivery of Extended Services activities for example after school/breakfast clubs

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the School Business Managers role must have previous relevant experience working in a similar role or have acquired the specialised skills for this post through significant on the job experience. You will be a motivated, well organised person who has a strong financial background with previous successful experience of planning and delivering budgets and managing projects and people. You must be well educated, and must have experience of supervising staff, including the ability to delegate and track performance and be empathetic and sensitive to the needs of staff. Although not essential, a CSBM /DSBM related qualifications would be highly desirable. You must live within or be able to commute to Lytham St Anne's, Lancashire. This post will be subject to a DBS check.
