Introduction Dalbeattie Community Initiative is looking for a Development Worker to develop a Business Plan involving the Asset Transfer of a large School building which it wishes to transform into a community resource. After considerable public consultation, a clear vision of the way ahead has been created. Role The Development Worker will be accountable to the Directors of DCI, while reporting on a day to day basis to Business Manager. The work will involve taking the vision forward in the form of a Business Plan which will meet the needs of the community itself, as well as those of Funding Bodies, Local Government, and other commercial partners. It will involve considerable consultation work. The Directors of DCI anticipate that the achievement of the Plan will involve challenging, intensive work over a three month period, providing very considerable job satisfaction. Person Spec We are looking for applications from individuals who have the complex skills involved in working with communities and with volunteers. He or she will be educated to degree level or to an equivalent experiential base, and will have a background of working up strong and cohesive business cases involving community projects. An ability to balance and prioritise a diverse work load will be crucial, as will be a positive motivated demeanour, which will certainly include a flexible approach and a willingness to adapt. The successful applicant will subscribe to and uphold the seven Nolan principles of public life, and will have evidence not only of relevant work experience, but of work actually delivered successfully.
