SALARY: Salary dependent upon experience ( company benefits) DAYS OF WORK: Full-time, Mon-Fri Our client is looking for an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to work for them in a permanent staff role. The client is looking for a candidate who will be educated to a degree level (mechanical engineering) and be chartered (or less than a year away from chartered status). My client are a market leading engineering consultancy. There will be a strong technical emphasis as you will be expected to lead from the front in providing regular consultative advice. Key Requirements: • Ideally be a Chartered / Professionally Certified Engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. • Extensive experience of pressure vessels – design, and the competence to sign-off is essential. • The PME will manage finite element analysis (FEA) and stress analysis process, and sign-off reports that have been submitted by third parties. Being peripatetic in nature and the holder of the role will have input into many different jobs at the same time. • Experience of specification of mechanical equipment including vessels, pumps, engines and turbines. • Site experience would be an advantage. • Ability to lead a team of designers. • To produce, manage and deliver, Mechanical engineering and design work for company projects. • Effective communication and time management • Ability to manage costs and schedule to tight budgets/deadlines • Significant experience in the technical assurance of engineering and design activities. • Excellent working knowledge of the engineering, specification, material selection, and design work • Experience of working in a multi-project/multi-disciplined environment, and throughout all ‘front end’ engineering and design phases of projects. • Understand the concept of earned-value relating to the production of engineering and design deliverables. • Customer minded, with excellent interpersonal skills. • Motivated, well organised and, ideally, capable of coordinating and mentoring a multi-skilled piping design team. • Responsible and Accountable for execution of all engineering and design activities, in compliance with applicable procedures, and including HSEQ requirements. • High level of Occupational HSE Awareness, and an understanding of the safety requirements. • This is a permanent role with an immediate start available.
