JOB TITLE: Maintenance Engineer 

REPORTING TO: Engineering Manager

LOCATION: Penrith, Cumbria

SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary is dependent on experience and there is a company bonus scheme in place

WORKING HOURS: Shift patterns based over 7 days with overtime

THE COMPANY: Our client has been at the forefront of modernising the waste management industry, focusing on environmentally friendly technologies and equipment. They are dedicated to the collection and processing of animal by-products as well as more general waste streams. Every year they collect and process in excess of 650,000 tonnes of waste material. From this processing operation they produce 130,000 tonnes of protein meal and 70 million litres of purified fats per year. Their meal and fats are used across a range of industries, including the biofuels, cosmetics, pet food, oleo chemical, agricultural and power industry. Due to continued success, we are now seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their company in Penrith, Cumbria. 

THE ROLE: To support the efficiency of the production lines by providing both planned and reactive engineering solutions. 

Main duties and responsibilities for the Maintenance Engineer role in Penrith, Cumbria:

• Liaise with production shift supervisors and managers to support the identification of potential issues, working to minimise downtime 
• Liaise with the engineering Administrator to ensure sufficient stocks of spare parts are available
• Adhere to preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules
• Liaise with production shift supervisors and managers to agree and schedule any works required, gaining permission to proceed, ensuring that all required permits are in place prior to commencement of works
• Assist external contractors with installation works as required, providing advice and support as required
• Responsible for health and safety of the work environment, ensuring that site safety standards are adhered to at all times, leaving work areas clean, tidy and safe after any works are completed
• Monitor all machinery and ancillary plant during production, completing relevant paperwork
• Rectify any defects, following process to a satisfactory conclusion 


Essential criteria for the Maintenance Engineer role in Penrith, Cumbria:

• Previous experience in an Engineer role in a manufacturing environment 
• Good level of English language; both spoken and written
• Able to work effectively in a team
• Keen eye for detail, able to identify issues and escalate appropriately
• Able to make considered decisions and communicate to relevant colleagues
