Safety Engineer (Nuclear Submarines)/ Barrow In Furness/ £50Ltd Per Hour/ Initial 9 Month Contract A well respected defence organisation is currently experiencing an ongoing period of growth and success. Due to an ever increasing workload, they are currently looking to recruit a Safety Engineer to join their dedicated team of Professionals. The role is based in the Barrow In Furness, Cumbria and is for an initial 9 month duration. There is a rate of £50Ltd on offer for the successful candidate. Please find the description below: Experience in the following safety techniques: o Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA); o Fault Tree Analysis (FTA); o Event Tree Analysis (ETA); o Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA); o Accident Sequence Modelling; o Fault Schedules; o Hazard & Operability Analysis (HAZOP); o Zonal Hazard Analysis (ZHA). Experience in using safety standards and guidance: o E.g. IEC61508, DO178, DEF-STAN-00-56, ARP-4761; o Setting integrity requirements (e.g. SIL, DAL); o Providing/ eliciting compliance evidence to standards and requirements; o Dealing with Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) equipment; o Dealing with Software of Unknown Pedigree (SOUP). Experience of requirements: o Developing Safety Functional Requirements (SFRs); o Deriving safety requirements on systems, components and testing from safety analyses; o Setting Availability, Reliability & Maintainability (ARM) requirements; o Providing/ eliciting compliance evidence to requirements; The Individual A degree of existing knowledge of the following is preferred, the capability to develop a detailed understanding and working knowledge is essential: 1. Understanding of submarine systems design, interaction commissioning and operation; 2. Knowledge of MoD due process requirements for safety documentation and understanding of naval safety management arrangements; 3. Familiarity with Product Safety techniques and standards (either submarines or wider industry) and Engineering processes (e.g. Life Cycle Management); 4. Sound understanding and application of the ALARP principle; 5. Understanding of Safety Legislation; 6. Knowledge of Safety Case architecture including the awareness of the prescription and guidance. Desirable Understanding of SIL & appropriate application Understanding of ONR SAPs Understanding of modern methodologies safety case Awareness of the Astute-Class Plant Nuclear Safety Case and/or Through Life Safety Case for PWR2 NRP. Awareness of the Dreadnought-Class Nuclear Safety Case for PWR3 NRP.
