Summary This key role acts as a focal point for Occupational Hygiene & Health issues to Spirit Energy UK and Netherlands (NL), linking in with Norway. You will ensure support is correctly focused and targets are achieved in line with legislative requirements and company standards, while retaining links and support into the wider HSE team. The role As the Senior Occupational Hygienist you will ensure that suitable systems are in place across UKNL for the management of occupational health risks, actively promoting the philosophy of good occupational hygiene practice at all levels of the organisation. Development and management of standards and processes for the effective implementation of occupational hygiene programs, in compliance with relevant legislation is at the core of the role as you lead the technical service and support to Spirit Energy in all aspects of occupational hygiene, including but not limited to mineral exposure, chemical agents, physical agents, and biological agents. You will provide management, support and co-ordination for Netherlands occupational health personnel and offshore medical personnel in UKNL and ensure over sight of appropriate clinical governance, legal compliance, competence, support, development and audit. To be responsible for the occupational health provision for the UK operational assets, including topside medical support, health surveillance, health promotion and wellbeing and to own, manage & support all aspects of the UK health surveillance and medical services contracts is required. Working closely with the Head of HSE and HSE Managers to ensure awareness and approval of proposed health initiatives and standards is key as you also develop technical competence and identify occupational hygiene training requirements liaising with the training and development department to provide suitable courses for regional HSE teams. You will need to monitor regulatory aspects of occupational health and hygiene and advise management of impending changes that may impact on operating practices and develop procedures for monitoring, auditing and review of compliance with current legislation and company policy. So, liaison with external organisations, such as the Health & Safety Executive, the company's insurers, neighbouring businesses, contractors, and equipment or material suppliers is required. The person You will hold a BOHS Certificate in Operational Competence for Occupational Hygiene (minimum), ideally a BOHS Diploma of Operational Competence and have a strong and visible commitment to health and safety with a Knowledge of operational assets and work group interdependencies.
