Systems Engineer (Field) We are looking for a Field Systems engineer based from our offices at Hook, Hampshire. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to continue or enhance their career as a Systems engineer, working in a busy, diverse Support environment. We are looking for a technically skilled engineer, predominantly experienced in the Microsoft server platforms. You will have an all-round ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and fix various faults ranging from PC / Server based hardware and software issues, network faults, routing and firewall problems and Active Directory / MS Exchange issues. You will provide on-going field support to business-critical applications, systems and equipment, your role will be very varied as you visit each site, you will spend the majority of your time with customers, so a positive and outgoing personality is essential. This role will require some out of hours cover, and for the successful candidate to be part of our out of hours standby rota, along with other support team staff. You will need strong experience of 2nd/3rd line support of Servers (Windows), applications such as Microsoft Exchange and hardware complimented by experience in desktop support. Experience in supporting VMware would strengthen your application. Core Responsibilities: Taking part in installations and commissioning of new systems at customer premises. Managing customer issues, expectations and communicating effectively. Attending Managed Service site visits at customer sites, diagnosing and following through to conclusion customer IT problems. Maintaining and updating site and engineers work records. Diagnosing and rectifying customer faults via both site visits and remotely. Ensure that standards and procedures are followed within the MS framework. Be able to work some out of hours cover, in line with our out of hours support rota. Other Duties : Liaise with the support team to ensure customer SLA’s are met. Carry out ad hoc work within the support division to fulfil company demands. Work to increase personal knowledge in role specific areas. Attend and contribute to departmental staff meetings. Skills and Experience: Microsoft MCP’s (Win 2012/2016, Exchange 2003-2016, SBS 2008-2011, SharePoint, Hyper-V) / VMware VCP (5.x / 6.x) accreditation highly desirable. We are ideally looking for at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role. Excellent understanding of Networking, routing, TCP/IP and WAN/LAN technologies. Excellent customer service skills are essential; this position involves daily communications with both customers and our support team. Installation and Maintenance of Windows Servers running Windows Server 2012/2016, Small Business Server 2008 - 2011, Exchange 2003 - 2016 and Configuring and deploying VMware / Hyper-V hosts and virtual machines. Installation and Maintenance of Windows based Client infrastructure Installation and Maintenance of Network Infrastructure including Cabling, Wi-Fi networks and associated Hardware. Use of remote software to offer Remote Assistance to Managed Service Clients Regular visits to Managed Service Clients, discussing IT needs and issues. Help Desk support, including the use of a Ticketing system. Recommending and Selling new ICT solutions to Managed Service clients General hardware and software support to both internal and business clients A good understanding of Backup software/Solutions, Antivirus Products, remote desktop Solutions, Wireless Technologies and Firewall configuration, deployment and maintenance (primarily Sonicwall Security Appliances) Personal skills: Analytical and logical fault finding. Excellent customer service skills, and able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to understand requirements and deliver applicable solutions. Self-motivated and driven to achieve professional success in a busy environment. Ability to manage workload and time according to deadlines. Resourceful, energetic and enthusiastic, prepared to go the extra mile. Good attention to detail.
