Are you an experienced Senior Applications Manager who is able to ownand lead on all activities associated to the application or suite applications?
As a Senior Application Manager your focus will be delivering releasesfor key business applications and IT Service related projects which helpto shape Cambridge Assessments applications.
You will work closely with stakeholders at all levels, using yourskills and experience to help influence key decision makers.

As a Senior Application Manager you will be responsible forestablishing and leading enterprise-wide, cross functional strategic andoperational initiatives including launching national and internationalkey services to release exam results for millions of candidates,large-scale operational improvements, major application improvements andinfrastructure upgrades and deployments.

This role will be aligned to our Centre of Excellence teams andtherefore demonstrable experience of managing application releases andprojects in an agile context with teams based onshore and offshore willbe an advantage.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

Working relationships with BTS Service SMT and Senior businessrepresentatives on a regular basis.
Will be involved in shaping the application management processes and methodologies
Has a full understanding of how their application or suite ofapplications fit into the overall business service and identifyingpotential improvements to help increase the stability or value of the service
Close working relationship with the Service Delivery Managers inorder to help proactively shape the service plan for their applicationsor suite of applications
To be responsible for the stability and functional delivery of anapplication or suite of applications within BTS Service
To be the first contact point for the application or suite ofapplications assigned and be able to provide a detailed level serviceinformation as requested
Key contact for any additional work against the application/suite ofapplications coming from projects or other applications dependencies
Management of the application or suite of applications through everystage of its lifecycle
Proactive management of incident investigation and resolution, bybeing involved in war rooms, Major incidents, Problem record resolutionsetc. to either prevent or resolve a major incident within theirapplication or suite of applications
Manage and oversee the delivery of the backlog items for theirapplication or suite of applications, with involvement of prioritisationwith the relevant Business Units and provide recommendations of theinclusions for each release
Work with the application owner to define the scope of each releaseensuring there is the correct balance of new functionality vs stability enhancements
Responsible for planning and road mapping of an application or suiteof applications defining the deliverables, resource requirements andwork plan for the required application releases,
Manage the development and delivery using both agile and/or waterfallframeworks as required
Work closely with business stakeholders and partners to developeffective working relationships
To ensure every lifecycle stage within a release meets the qualitystandards agreed within the Technology department and the Business Units.
Matrix management of the aligned resources for each release, ensuringall resources are fully engaged
Keep abreast of market trends and emerging business and technologicalopportunities and providing updates and impact assessments of these areas.

The successful candidate

The successful candidate will be team focused and confident. They willhave excellent time management skills and will be able to prioritiseworkload efficiently ensuring deadlines are hit, the successfulcandidate will thrive in challenging environments.
We are looking for someone who is able to build and maintain trustamongst stakeholders at all levels, this trust is vital when makingeffective decisions or recommendations based on information provided.
The successful candidate will need:
A proven track record of successful release implementation in anapplication development environment. With previous experience inmanaging an application or suite of applications
Previous experience in transitioning applications into operations.
Experience in software development and usability design.
Experience of the full application life cycle, with a workingknowledge of each of the relevant stages is essential.
Working knowledge of planning tools and delivery methodologies suchas MS Project, Prince 2, Jira as well as agile frameworks best practices.
The Senior Application Manager must hold a relevant degree with atleast 5 years experience in a similar role or must have at least 10years equivalent practical experience
Proven experience in effective risk & issue management
The ability to convey technical information to a non-technicalaudience reaching the desired outcome/understanding for both
