Test Team Leader Service Area: Operations Location: Manchester Salary Details: Competitive About The Role The basic purpose of the job and its primary objectives: The Test Team Leader will have a combined role of Test Analyst and Team Leader for the Test Team. In their role of Test Analyst they will participate in an interactive software development model, produce test plans, execute manual test plans, execute usability tests and ensure that the quality of the software delivered is functioning, effective and in line with the business requirements. In their role of Team Leader they will manage the team of Test Analysts, including supervision and evaluation activities, coordination of work and liaison with Project and PMO Managers, resource planning and management and development and implementation of procedures and best practice. Working in collaboration with the PMO, Development, MI and Training teams, business leads and end-users, to understand and deliver successful business solutions, including transformation programmes and process improvement projects utilising new technologies. Main Responsibilities: · Collaboratively work with PMO, IT teams and internal stakeholders to define project testing needs, test planning and desired outcomes, ensuring requirements are documented in a structured and auditable manner. · Work in unison with IT, Software Developers, Project Managers and Business Analysts, and support other Test Team members as appropriate with testing related activities. · Develop test procedures and best practice, and programme/project test strategies. · Supervision of Test Analysts, including QA checks, check-ins, team meetings, performance and absence management, and evaluation of training and development needs · Take full responsibility for the leadership of the team and any necessary action to identify and implement improvement actions also ensuring high levels of employee satisfaction and productivity · Coordination of Test Team activities, including workload planning, management and time estimations · Responsible for planning project testing phases, including: writing and executing test plans, writing and executing test scripts, and producing test defect and bug logs. · Responsible for the testing and QA of new and modified software, including: stress testing, performance testing, functional testing and usability testing. · Provide objective, documented feedback to the Project Manager, and software development and project teams. · Communicate findings to technical and non-technical colleagues. · Ensure IT and PMO values and working practices, specifically planning, communication, implementation and delivery, are followed and supported. · Develop with IT and the business, recommendations on alternative approaches. · Work to strict deadlines to meet business requirements and expectations Essential skills: · Minimum three years of manual systems testing and QA experience. · Minimum two years of team leader/supervisor experience. · Experience in case/claims/customer management systems. · Experience in manual workflow/scenario based test scripting and execution. · Flexible, proactive individual with a quality assurance background. · A solid understanding of the software development process. · Excellent written, communications and consultancy skills. · The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. · Responsible person capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously. Desirable skills: · Problem solving skills. · Management experience. · Exposure to ITIL, SDLC, Prince or other project management or IT service delivery methodologies. · Exposure to legal or insurance industry.
