A respected Software Company is looking for a Project Accounting Manager to take responsibility for managing the day-to-day project accounting functions and creating the Directors monthly management accounts pack.

In this Project Accounting Manager position you won't just have your head stuck in spreadsheets as you will be liaising with different teams across the business, such as Sales Consultants, Project Managers, the Finance Team and the Board.

Strong communication skills are needed as there could be times where you need to challenge information received. E.g. Sales Consultants can often exaggerate their sales pipeline.

As the Project Accounting Manager you'll take full ownership for managing the annual budget, which will include analysing and forecasting outgoing and incoming finance as well as taking responsibility for ensuring that sales order book and sales pipeline tracking is accurate and up to date.

You'll be working for the Professional Services Department (PSG), in a busy project management environment for a rapidly growing ERP Software company.

Main Project Accounting Manager Duties and Responsibilities

  • Month-end reporting on profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow
  • Creating the monthly management accounts pack for the board of directors
  • Development and ongoing improvement of the financial information and KPI's Financial forecasting, analysis and reporting
  • Preparation and maintenance of the PSG budget
  • Implement and apply internal control procedures particularly around Sales Order book and Pipeline reporting
  • Ensuring that PSG and the Finance department is supplied with data to effectively manage the business
  • You will be managing a small team

Skills and Experience for the ideal Project Accounting Manager

  • Previous accounting and financial planning experience ideally with cash flow management, financial controls and month end reporting
  • Project management accounting experience
  • Accounting qualifications AAT or part qualified CIMA / ACCA
  • Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and influencing skills.
  • Ability to review processes and suggest and implement process improvements
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability challenge inconsistencies
  • Experience gained in a software environment would be useful Attention to detail ensuring accuracy
