As the business has expanded, there is the need to appoint an interim accountant to work on several projects. Initially, this is a 12-month contract, however the management are keen to extend and/or make this position permanent, with defined career progression for the right candidate. Further discussion regarding this can take place at interview. A competitive salary is offered for this role - details of which will be provided to suitable applicants ahead of any CV submission to our client. The role: The successful candidate will work alongside senior management and the Finance Director as a dedicated resource to undertake projects within the finance team. Initially, this will involve overseeing the accounts payable team and you will be tasked with the implementation of new standards, policies and processes. Further to this, you will be working closely with the senior Commercial Accountant and will be driving change throughout the Finance Department making business processes smoother, as well as delivering transparency for the business to enable swift and correct decisions to be made at board level. This will include: Undertaking specified projects Improving and designing processes within the finance function, including: purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, import/export, receiving, fixed assets, cash flow, forecasting and BI. Organising and managing the workload within the team directly related to the process changes. Implementing weekly/monthly review processes and identifying key metrics. Improving team internal control documents e.g. reconciliations. Coordinating with the IT department to maintain & develop accounting systems. Assisting in month-end closing where necessary Skills & experience sought: Self-starter, motivated to work independently Diligent with a clear attention to detail Demonstrable track record of stakeholder management and project management Previous team management experience Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Fully Qualified or near completion of qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA), with a sound understanding of accounting principles Previous experience within a relevant manufacturing sector is desirable.
