Area Forest Manager

For our South West Scotland operational area Area Forest Manager Your Tasks • Assisting the Business Development Manager (BDM) in the formulation of the annual the budget, business, and marketing plans, whilst actively seeking new business opportunities as agreed with the BDM. • Working with forest owners to agree annual budgets,implement agreed programmes, and advising to ensure Government grant income is optimised. • Keeping up to date with developments in forestry and respond accordingly. • Managing forests in accordance with UKFS and where required UKWAS. • Ensuring that forest maps and records are kept up to date. • Providing support for forest and land acquisition. • Carrying out assessments and valuations of standing timber in co-operation with colleagues in the Harvesting and Marketing Division and to liaise and negotiate with the forestry contractors. • Providing owners with advice on optimising total return from timber harvesting and where appropriate arrange for the sale of standing timber. Our Requirements • You will preferably hold a diploma/degree level education in Forestry or equivalent, membership of ICF and a CIEH Supervising Health and Safety certificate. • You have a full Driving Licence. • You possess a high standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook). • You have a detailed knowledge and ability to use GIS mapping systems. • You have previous Managerial and Supervisory experience, but this is not essential. • You have good written and verbal skills, and have high levels of attention to detail and accuracy.
