We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Head Chef to lead the development of our clients cafe bistro food offering and team of chefs in Northumberland.

The Role
As Head Chef you'll work closely with the general manager and managing director to develop their daytime menus and evening bistro menu, along with private hire, event catering and pop-up kitchens across the north east and your responsibilities will include:

• Hands on day to day cooking and preparation of the menu and daily Specials.
• Developing new ideas through meetings with the whole team.
• Managing and rotating stock and stock ordering
• Kitchen Hygiene and Cleanliness Management
• Recruitment, training and development of a small brigade of chefs
• Compliance with Food Hygiene, HACCP and Health & Safety regulations
• The maintenance of consistency of taste and presentation of food
• Working within the company framework to produce creative, original dishes for the seasonal changing menu
• Working to set budgets for both food purchases and wages
• Championing and upholding the company values and ethos
• Maintaining equipment and the working environment to ensure operational excellence

Please note that own transport is essential.

The Person
As Head Chef you must have previous experience of delivering high quality, excellently presented food in a fast-paced environment. Previous management of suppliers and prices to achieve good GP is essential and you must be/have:

• Proven experience creating and executing menus either as head chef or senior sous
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Creativity with – and passion for – seasonal British ingredients
• Extensive Modern and Traditional European cooking experience
• Able to quickly gain an understanding of specific business functions and take ownership of the resulting tasks
• A sound financial understanding of all aspects of running a busy kitchen
• Bright, confident and enthusiastic
• Absolute focus on detail, consistency and perfection
• Understand the importance of team development and development of individuals
• Able to work effectively under pressure
• Be ambitious and eager to progress

This is an excellent opportunity working 5 days from 7 over a set shift pattern with no split shifts and as Head Chef you will receive:

• Salary of £20,000 - £25,000 per annum depending on experience
• Relevant training and a thorough company induction
