Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre (STC), near Rugby

When you work at Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre (STC) as a Custodial Care Officer you will realise that this is not just a job. This is a challenging and rewarding career where you will have real opportunities to change young people’s lives. Do you have what it takes?

We’ll provide you with the tools to be successful during our accredited 7-week Initial Training Programme – you just need to have the attitude, resilience and passion to be successful in this role. In return for your drive and dedication, we’re offering you an exciting and stable career opportunity with excellent training and development opportunities, great benefits & a chance to influence young people to lead a crime-free lifestyle.

The Role

Each day at Rainsbrook STC you will safeguard, supervise and mentor our 12-18 year olds who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. You will play a key role in helping the young people in your care to build their skills and experience, motivating and inspiring them to fulfill their potential and turn their lives around.

This is certainly a diverse and hugely rewarding role but can be extremely challenging at times too. The children and young people detained here at Rainsbrook can often be confrontational and unpredictable so you will need to remain calm, confident and resilient, with a supportive ‘firm but fair’ approach to deal with a variety of situations effectively. You will need to be a positive role model for our young people, taking a proactive approach to behaviour management and goal implementation to encourage change. Experience of working with young or vulnerable people is desirable but not essential.

Rainsbrook STC operates 24 hours a day, therefore our staff member will work on a rotational shift pattern that includes weekends and some night shifts. You can expect your shift pattern to look something like this:

Days: 7.30am - 9.30pm (3 days a week)
Weekend work every other weekend

Nights: 9.15pm - 7.45am (once every 16 weeks you would work 7 night shifts, then have 7 days off)

To apply for this role, you must be eligible to work in the UK and be able to provide full details of your work and educational history covering the last 5 years as part of the screening and vetting process for the role. You will be required to undergo DBS enhanced level security clearance.

Closing date: 26th August 2018
