JOB TITLE: Maintenance Assistant

SALARY: Competitive hourly pay dependant on experience

WORKING HOURS: Permanent full time hours – 52 weeks of the year

THE COMPANY: We are currently working with a friendly, family orientated preparatory school with strong boarding, positioned in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside. They are now looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join the team in Swanbourne, Milton Keynes.

THE ROLE: As the Maintenance Assistant you will assist the Head of Maintenance with the planning and organising of all aspects maintenance in and around the school and any other properties that the school may have at their disposal. 

Key Responsibilities for the Maintenance Assistant role to include:- 

• Monitoring the standards of the premises and furnishings and reporting any problems 
• Advising the Site Manager to any repairs and to assist in carrying out ongoing preventative maintenance programs 
• Review work order priorities on a daily basis and ensure that they are serviced each day 
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing bulbs and repairing doors/windows 
• Carry out repairs and maintenance to the building, it’s facilities and infrastructure including – plumbing, glazing, joinery, painting, patch plastering, and general repairs 
• Oversee the operation of equipment used in performing maintenance work 
• Ensure that facility grounds and parking lots are clean of debris and rubbish 
• Preparing the school premises and site for out of school activities and clearing up after these activities 

THE CANDIDATE: The successful applicant will be able to work as a member of a team and as an individual. You will have an ability to undertake a wide range of maintenance activities to a high standard of workmanship and identify maintenance and repair needs. Ideally you will have a relevant qualification; City and Guilds or an NVQ. 

Key experience essential for the role of the Maintenance Assistant:- 

• Demonstrable experience in a range of maintenance skills
• Minimum of 1 years experience in a similar role
• Experience in the safe use of typical powered hand and bench tools
• Possess good working knowledge of general building maintenance
• Live within a commutable distance to Swanbourne, Milton Keynes
