We are recruiting for a Psychological Therapist which is office based in Scunthorpe and includes travelling to community venues across North Lincolnshire. Hours Please note this is a 12 month fixed term contract (with the possibility of extending the contract for a longer period). The Role of Psychological Therapist As psychological therapist you will integrate psychological theory with therapeutic techniques to help people overcome and deal with problematic life events and mental health issues by engaging people and their communities to help identify barriers whilst empowering them to overcome these. Duties and Responsibilities Our clients’ Specialist Weight Management Services (SWMS) involves working with adults struggling with obesity related issues and core objectives for the SWMS Psychological Therapist include: • Working flexibly and collaboratively to ensure the successful delivery of the SWMS psychology programme. • Using a wide range of psychological/ psychotherapeutic knowledge of models including, but not limited to: motivational interviewing, behavioural change, cognitive behaviour therapy, integrative therapy and positive psychotherapy, with the aim of helping clients to engage with our programmes and work towards their goals. • Delivering 1:1 therapy, psychological assessments and group therapy to clients with complex psychological needs (where appropriate). • Attending monthly meetings and contribute to agendas and discussions. • Regularly weigh clients and complete outcome measures in accordance with service guidelines and to record this information as trained. • Contributing to Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings as required for client cases and • Bringing new ideas to enhance the Psychology Services, such as with the development of research / clinical placements / service design. • Prioritising own workload and ensure effective time management strategies are embedded in own practice and that of others. • Abiding by company, procedures and expectations as detailed in the Employee Handbook and Contract of Employment. • Having suitable external supervision arrangements with a qualified approved supervisor as approved by the Head of Psychology, Qualifications and Experience • Qualification in therapy/counselling to a minimum of diploma level • Experience of delivering adult therapeutic interventions in a 1:1 setting • Able to work in a therapeutic way that responds to a client’s needs, including a knowledge of cognitive behavioural therapy or behavioural approaches • Registered member of a professional body • Experience of working with a weight management client group or similar • Knowledge of safeguarding with vulnerable adults • Good communication and facilitation skills Rewards The role of Psychological Therapist is a 12-month fixed term contract (with the possibility of extending the contract for a longer period) and the salary on offer is £26,000 to £29,000 per annum pro rata.
