Finance Systems Analyst/Business & Systems Analyst

- Act as a conduit between Finance, IT and the business on Systems related matters

The role

The role is pivotal to the success of the department acting as a key point of contact for data and systems. The incumbent will provide support and technical guidance to the Actuarial Department. In addition the role will act as Subject Matter Expert for data provision and systems on any projects or planned change.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain, run and improve the tools and systems used to capture and transform data necessary to the Actuarial Reserving process
  • Act as a conduit between Finance, IT and the business on Systems related matters
  • Develop or assist in the development of new Actuarial projects/enhancements using ResQ, SQL Server, and Excel
  • Liaise with IT and Accounts departments regarding data integrity and systems development
  • Manage the ResQ environments (including annual DR tests)
  • Support, maintain and develop reporting outputs from Group Actuarial
  • Test changes to core data feeds to ensure data integrity
  • Maintain and improve documentation of processes and controls

Actuarial

Based in London the Group Actuarial department is dynamic and fast paced environment that demands the highest standards. All members of the team deal with internal and external clients are empowered to challenge and improve and have a high degree of autonomy.

Along with the support of the team and its clients this role will interact directly with key stakeholders including Management Information, Accounts and IT departments.

Key requirements

Technical

  • Experience of acting as a conduit between Finance, IT and the business on Systems related matters
  • Experience in using SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Experience with database or data reporting implementations.
  • Advanced skills using MS Excel and Access.
  • Experience maintaining and managing critical business systems
  • Use of Tableau visualization (or similar analysis/reporting tools).
  • Exposure to Cognos Planning is useful
  • Actuarial experience in a non-life insurance environment (not essential)
  • ResQ Automation Certification (not essential)
  • Accounting qualification (not essential)
