Emtelle is a world class provider of infrastructure solutions covering the telecommunications, electricity and water industries. Our Hawick and Jedburgh factories, located in the Scottish Borders, are centres of expertise for duct and sub duct, optical cable, air blown fibre and other extruded polymer products.

Technical Operators - Termination Department - Hawick (JMD01)

This requirement is to satisfy the production objectives of our Fibre Termination Department. The Department is tasked with the volume preparation and production of optical fibre-based products to service customer orders and the internal requirements of our other production departments.

To manufacture fibre optic assemblies following our standard operating procedures or specified drawings, to the highest quality. To assist with stock levels, cleaning and other duties that arise within the production area. Full training will be provided.

The department will be tasked and measured on the achievement of defined outputs to meet Customer requirements in quantity, quality and time.

Operators will therefore be expected and required to achieve those qualitative measures as well as the quantity vs. time targets required as the key expectation of their role.

The successful candidates will need to demonstrate on a sustained basis in their employment the following.

  • A high standard of proficiency in handling small fibre optic components and equipment. Experience in roles where fine eye to hand coordination and attention to detail, speed and quality are preferred
Technical Operators - Main Production - Hawick (XC01) Operators - Main Production - Jedburgh (RC01)

We also currently have vacancies for Technical Operators our Main Production Department’s at Hawick and Jedburgh. Reporting to a Shift Supervisor, these positions involve the Running of extrusion machines, completing quality checks and any other tasking associated with the meeting of our production requirements as directed. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but training will be given. The positions work as part of production teams and an ability and willingness to learn contribute and work effectively to meet the goals of the team and operation are essential.

The successful candidates will need to demonstrate on a sustained basis in their employment the following

• A high standard of proficiency in handling production equipment.
• Able to work effectively in a physically demanding environment.
• Able and willing to commit to working shift patterns and also overtime as required. These will be continental patterns rotating from day to night or an early, nigght, back day rotation depending upon site and requirements

Person Specification – All Roles

• The ability to organise, count and record material.
• Understanding and adherence in following both written and verbal work instructions.
• To communicate clearly with existing and potential external partners and to other staff at Emtelle, in respect to activities processes and methodologies employed in the department.
• Highly self-motivated, disciplined and organised.
• Time Management, they will deliver a high and sustained standard of attendance and timekeeping.
• A focus on cost management, and absolute adherence to Health and Safety and Quality Requirements
