Loans Administrator


LOCATION: Birmingham, West Midlands (Close proximity to Birmingham airport)

SALARY: £16,000 - £18,000 per annum

WORKING HOURS: The post is full time, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will work 7 hours each day between the hours of 8.30am to 5.00pm with a daily lunch break of one hour.

THE COMPANY: Our client was set up by the police, for the whole of the police family – serving and retired police officers/police staff and members of their households offering loans and savings services. It now serves the wider protective services including prison officers, probation officers and members of the armed forces offering loans and savings services.


Key Accountabilities:

To work with the Lending Manager and Lending Team to achieve loan portfolio targets
To deliver a first class customer experience to PCU’s Members ensuring that all loan administrative tasks are carried out in a timely, accurate and efficient manner to guarantee the highest level of member satisfaction

Key Responsibilities of the Loans Administrator to include:-

Responsible for meeting the needs of our members in a polite, respectful and efficient manner ensuring their first impression of PCU is first-class
To deal with member contact on an initial and on-going basis via incoming and outgoing telephone, text, letter and email
Handling loan applications and any loan related matters, including any loan administration, i.e. Credit Checks, transactions, filing etc
Responsible for keeping emails up to date and replying to our members promptly
Telephone loan application and loan quotes
Review loans portfolio on a daily basis and in a timely manner
Responsible for the delivery of loan decisions including decline decisions to members
Recording of member information accurately, ensuring any notes are factual and not supposition
Accurately filing electronic and hard copy documents
Carrying out reporting and updating accounts upon review of report, e.g. Loan issue, Loan repayment
Keep to KPIs and targets set for you by the Lending Manager
You will undertake regular training and be knowledgeable about all products and services
Promote PCU products and services to our members and potential membership
Maintain a sense of social responsibility and ethical approach, ensuring we have a commitment to treating our members fairly
Comply with data protection legislation and to maintain strict confidentiality and security in dealing with all information relating to PCU and its members, in accordance with PCUs policies and procedures
To work to the policies and procedures including relevant legislation and guidelines set down by PCU, the Financial Conduct Authority, TCF principles, the Consumer Credit Trade Association the Financial Ombudsman Service & the Data Protection Act 1998 and any other appropriate service standards


Assist the Lending Manager and Senior Management team with the implementation and delivery of new products and services to PCU’s members
Any other duties that may reasonably be requested by the Lending Manager and Senior Management team
Work with the Finance team to ensure repayments on loans are managed
Work with the Member Services Team ensuring our members experience an excellent standard of customer care, assisting PCU’s Senior Management with our Member experience approach
Ensuring you have a working knowledge of internal policies and procedures and keep updated with policies and where relevant external practices

Key skills / experience for the role of the Loans Administrator based in Birmingham:

At a minimum, GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above in Maths and English
Minimum of 1 years’ experience in an Administration role
Proven experience in a customer service role
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, delivering a consistent and professional level of service at all times
Must live within commutable distance of Birmingham Airport (employer’s location)


Understanding and appreciation of the Credit Union movement
Experience working in a regulatory environment
Proven experience working to targets
