That’s precisely what is on offer at West Yorkshire Combined Authority where a £1bn devolution deal has put the Leeds City Region at the forefront of the Government’s Northern Powerhouse delivery agenda.
The Combined Authority brings together five districts plus York, the business community via Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership and also takes in the former Passenger Transport Executive (branded Metro). Overall, the Combined Authority covers a population of around 2.5 million people and represents the largest economy outside London.
The Combined Authority is part way through a programme of transformation to modernise the way that it does business and the HR team have recently introduced a HR Business Partnering model and restructured its operations. We are now looking to appoint to this fixed term position to continue the transformation by ensuring we have employment related policies and procedures in place that are fit for purpose in the future. This will include undertaking a full review, revising and updating key policies to reflect current best practice and employment law and embedding our values and behaviours within our management practices. There will also be a programme of employee engagement and consultation/negotiation with our recognised trade unions to implement and roll out the changes.
This is a critical role to fast track the transformation elements of the HR work programme enabling us to modernise arrangements relating to the workforce.
You will be a qualified HR professional with experience of the development and delivery of a revised approach to people management through up to date employment procedures and practices as well as being able to manage a programme of engagement, consultation and negotiation.
