Open Media and Informal Learning (OMIL) delivers free online learning from The Open University (OU) and publishes it to OpenLearn ( ) and a range of other platforms such as YouTube and Amazon. As part of our ongoing commitment to access to education for all, this activity encourages uptake of new student registrations whilst providing a robust subject and careers support for our formal students. OpenLearn is an award-winning platform, reaching over eight million visitors annually. It contains over fifteen thousand hours of free learning material, most of which is adapted from OU qualifications.
This role is key to supporting the production of learning content for OpenLearn, through the scheduling and management of courses and associated learning assets. You will need experience of producing web-based educational content in order to assist in creating, commissioning and integrating assets that are accessible and engaging (artwork, audio, video, interactive).
You will contribute to the learning design of courses, and work with authors during the development of the content, reviewing and commenting on early drafts to ensure suitability for OpenLearn.
Your excellent communication, team working and project management skills will be highly valued as you work with a variety of stakeholders across the OU. Taking ownership for delivering outcomes you will identify trends, think creatively to solve problems, and respond positively to change. A working knowledge of open and distance learning and experience in audio visual production would be beneficial.
