Oakleaf are currently looking to recruit an Activities Coordinator for our 18 bed mental health service based in Ripley. We specialise in supporting people with enduring mental health difficulties who require 24hr nursing support due to their complex needs and/or challenging behaviour. Candidates would ideally have previous experience of working as an activities coordinator but we will consider Senior Support Workers with extensive experience looking to move into activities. The role is for 25 hours per week and this can be worked in a variety of ways 5 or 3 days Main function of the job:- To create a stimulating and developing activity programme to enhance the quality of life for each resident within the care home. To plan, organise and co-ordinate activities for active daily living for each resident individually and in groups. Plan and organise an activities programme that will maintain interest and progression over a period of time. Identify the needs of the collective group and individuals and tailor the activities to suit them. Main duties of the role:- 1. Assist residents in all aspects of their daily activity programme. 2. Pay particular attention to assisting residents who have limited mobility or physical / learning difficulties, making the best use of aids provided. 3. Support and develop residents who may be confused and/or who have behavioural problems. 4. Assist in the promotion of strategies to improve stimulation. 5. Observe care planning needs for residents and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company’s policies and procedures. 6. Assist in framework of social activities by interacting with residents and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the location. 7. Report on the well-being of residents. 8. Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained in line with the Company’s policies and procedures. 9. Escort residents travelling to and from the location to activities 10. Participate in the creation and review of risk assessments for levels of activity. 11. Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with residents' affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with residents. 12. Encourage involvement in the local community to plan and organise external outings with appropriate transport. 13. Maintain an awareness of the Health and Safety requirements. 14. Maintain client and business confidentiality at all times 15. Continual personal development to develop oneself and the role. 16. In addition to these tasks, employees may at times be asked to carry out other reasonable duties as required by the service or line manager. Personal Specification:- Calm natured and patient Good communication skills, both written and verbal Flexible working methods Previous experience of planning activities and coordinating Knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable adults QCF level 2 or 3 or equivalent desirable
