Public Engagement Manager
The Royal Armouries cares for one of the world’s oldest museum collections, housed at its headquarters and flagship museum in Leeds, its historic home at the Tower of London, and the Victorian Fort Nelson in Hampshire.
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced manager to play a key role in our Public Engagement Team. The Public Engagement Manager’s role is to help bring this national, iconic collection of arms and armour to life in a programme that combines academic rigour with creative flair, in-the-moment flexibility with strategic vision, and serious-mindedness with a sense of fun. In this post you will develop, manage and deliver a unique, world-class programme of visitor-focussed exhibitions and events at Fort Nelson. Your remit will include daily and special public events featuring gun-firing demonstrations and live interpretation, and a programme of display interpretation and special exhibitions, all designed to build and strengthen engagement with priority audiences.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, will have recent experience of successfully managing complex, large-scale event and exhibition programmes for a range of audiences, and will be up for a challenge! If this sounds like you, please get in touch.
This is a full-time post, working 37.5 hours per week (5 days out of 7). Weekend, bank holiday and evening working will be required on a regular basis.
