Haywards Heath is a thriving Town and Community in the heart of the beautiful county of Sussex. The Town can trace its origins back to 1544 but the completion of the London and Brighton Railway Line in 1841 marked the rapid expansion of Haywards Heath, providing jobs and opportunities for many people in East and West Sussex as well as commuters from outside of Sussex.

Haywards Heath Town Council are now looking for 2 Grounds Persons to assist the Grounds Maintenance Team with the day to day maintenance and general upkeep of the Councils outdoor facilities, which includes their gardens, allotment sites, cemetery and street furniture.

Other duties of the role include:
  • Maintenance of grass verges and flower beds
  • Maintenance of tower planters hanging baskets, watering and general upkeep
  • Nature Reserve, Muster Green and Haywards Heath War Memorial maintenance
  • Responding to snow (gritting roads, paths, etc)
  • Town Hall maintenance – keeping gardens, car park, footpath, disabled ramp and steps clean and free from litter debris, grit car park, footpath and steps in inclement weather

For this role you will be a friendly proactive, dedicated and forward-thinking individual. You will be flexible, hands on, a good team worker, possesses excellent organisational skills and be physically able to perform the role. You will ideally have some Gardening or Horticultural experience and a valid, clean UK driving licence, however this isn't essential.
