Blackpool Sixth is an outstanding college specialising in 16-19 education, we have an exciting opportunity for a Science Technician to join our team. In this permanent, term time only, position, you will be responsible for the maintenance and effective operation of equipment and resources in science as well as providing support to teachers and students in the effective delivery of science courses both within and outside the classroom.
Based within the Science department you will work closely with others in the department supporting students to achieve their ambitions. The department delivers both academic and vocational qualifications across science and engineering. As a team, we are all committed to delivering an exceptional learning experience for every student – and we work together to achieve that.
A day in Science could see you:
- maintaining science areas, laboratories and equipment
- preparing materials, consumables and equipment for staff and students
- providing support to students in practical workshops/classrooms
- maintaining an awareness of Health and Safety and assisting in ensuring that the students are aware of the practices and procedures.checking stock and ordering
