LOCATION: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

JOB TITLE: Teaching Assistant 

SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary (H2 £18,000) £13,000 pro rata 

WORKING HOURS: Part Time – 30 hours per week ideally split over Monday to Friday but hours negotiable/flexible - Term Time only 

THE COMPANY: Our client operate a school in Hemel Hempstead and is an exciting, dynamic, vibrant and fulfilling place to work. A School which is ‘Good Overall, in all aspects’ (Ofsted December 2015), and which now enjoys a completely new build, opened in January 2017, and is now seeking an a new Teaching Assistant to join their existing team. 

This would be a great for someone who has experience working with young people or children but is open to applicants with no experience. 

THE ROLE: As an Teaching Assistant you will support students with special educational needs and enable them to have access to the wider curriculum. You will also help and support SEN individuals with access to the PE curriculum. This is a varied but extremely rewarding role where you will be working with and supporting groups or individuals, liaise with teachers and pastoral support staff, speech and language staff and will help contribute to Parent Meetings as well as SEN reviews and documentation. 

• To liaise with the SENCO (as required)
• Support small group and individual Language/Literacy/Numeracy support programmes
• Respond to emotional and educational issues including ‘Time out', when issues arise in
• To liaise with the members of the T.A. Team concerning specific pupils/classes etc. (daily)
• To support Public and school Examinations for S&L students including reading, extra time and
occasional amanuensis duties by liaison with senior staff as required
• To liaise with subject teachers regarding pupil progress and behaviour management issues

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Teaching Assistant role will ideally have experience working in a similar role add supporting students or young people, but this is not essential. You will need to be an energetic and patient person who can effectively motivate people, is optimistic and someone who has a great sense of humour and can build lasting relationships. In addition, candidates will need to have good oral and written skills, be IT literate, must undergo a DBS check and will also need to live in, or be able to adequately commute to Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Teaching Assistant role :-

- Experience working with students or young people would be highly desirable
- C grade GCSE level in Maths & English (Or equivalent) or ability to demonstrate good knowledge of written and spoken English essential 
- Must be energetic, creative, enthusiastic and someone who can remain calm
- Will need great interpersonal skills and be able to build effective relationships
- Must be able to commute to Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
