We are looking for degree qualified staff who are interested in training as teachers whilst working as a TA. There are opportunities in a range of areas across the College and applicants should express their areas of interest. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to undertake the Diploma in Education through the College. The scheme has had significant success with previous graduates securing posts in secondary schools and other colleges on completion. 

This is a temporary two-year position working part time / term time only. 

Opportunities are available in all subject areas. 

The position of trainee teacher is a dual role. Whilst being employed as a teaching assistant, the College will provide opportunities to gain a teaching qualification. To achieve this, the teaching assistant must enrol on the Diploma in Education and Training (DET). The programme is delivered through association with Canterbury Christ Church University at Bexhill College on a Monday evening. 

Key experience essential for the role: 
• Educated to at least level 4/degree level in area relevant to the college curriculum offer 
• Confidence to supervise a class independently
• Be First Aid qualified or willing to train
• Commitment to education and the value of learning

All trainees will be expected to fully engage in all Section activities including: 
• To act as cover supervisors in the absence of teaching staff 
• To work in the Study Centre or the ‘monitored study’ provision as required 
• To all undertake teacher training through the DET programme at Bexhill College 
• 100% attendance of teacher training sessions delivered at Bexhill Sixth Form College on a Monday evening 
• Meeting of deadlines for all assignments and achievement of modules and lesson observations
• The collection and presentation of evidence towards Professional Development Portfolio, including working on development areas and action plans 
• Attending Professional Development Centre (PDC) workshops for trainee teachers
