Business Development Officer

LOCATION: Birmingham, West Midlands (Close proximity to Birmingham airport)

SALARY: £21,000 - £27,000 (Dependent on experience and expertise)

WORKING HOURS: The post is full time, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will work 7 hours each day between the hours of 8.30am to 5.00pm with a daily lunch break of one hour.

THE COMPANY: Our client was set up by the police, for the whole of the police family – serving and retired police officers/police staff and members of their households offering loans and savings services. It now serves the wider protective services including prison officers, probation officers and members of the armed forces offering loans and savings services.

THE ROLE: We have an exciting opportunity to for a Business Development Officer to join our growing team. As part of the Business Development team you will work closely to help implement the organisations Business Development and Marketing Plan. Your main focus will be to drive both membership and loan growth throughout the Police, Armed Forces and Prison Service.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development
To increase membership and loan growth within the Credit Unions current core target markets - the Police, Armed Forces and Prison Officers
Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market
To attend relevant events/conferences within the Credit Union sector
Stay up to date with new products/services

Brand & Product Development
Work alongside the Business Development Manager to develop new products and services for the membership
Liaise with marketing agencies and 3rd party suppliers to develop and review literature, signage and other promotional materials
Monitor industry trends and competitor activities

Stakeholder Management
Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders
Set up and attend meetings or calls between existing and prospective stakeholders and provide feedback to Senior Management

Campaign Management & Communications
To work closely with the Business Development Manager to implement a range of inbound and outbound marketing strategies
Develop member case studies and testimonials
Implement both paid and organic SEO strategies, including paid social media and Google Ad words
Run seasonal lending campaigns
Oversee monthly email and direct mailing campaigns


Analytics & Reporting
Provide weekly reports to the Business Development Manager on progress regarding KPIs related to membership and loan growth
Website analytics and ROI Reports

Budget Control
To ensure all Business Development and Marketing Activity remains within the allocated budget

Other
To help identify a list of industry related accreditations and awards available and associated deadlines
Assist with training new members of staff within the team
Comply with data protection legislation and to maintain strict confidentiality and security in dealing with all information relating to PCU and its members, in accordance with PCU’s policies and procedures
To work to the policies and procedures including relevant legislation and guidelines set down by PCU, the Financial Conduct Authority, TCF principles, the Consumer Credit Trade Association the Financial Ombudsman Service & the Data Protection Act 1998 and any other appropriate service standards
Ensuring you have a working knowledge of internal policies and procedures and keep updated with policies and where relevant external practices
Any other duties that may reasonably be requested by the Business Development Manager and Senior Management team

You will have experience of marketing or business development with a passion for helping people and making a difference to the lives of others. You must be confident in being able to engage with others, at all levels including Senior Management and presenting to large audiences. You will be proactive in your approach – a self-starter, who is able to develop strong business relationships. You must be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject matter.

You’ll show plenty of initiative and are driven by change and a constant need to improve. The successful candidate will have a target focused mind-set and are confident in your own ability to meet them. You will have excellent communication skills and confident with public speaking and excellent IT skills.

Key skills / experience for the Business Development Officer role based in Birmingham (Near Birmingham Airport):

Proven Business Development & Marketing Experience
Experience Digital Marketing Techniques 
Hold a full UK Driving Licence
Business or Marketing Degree (or relevant qualification)

Desirable

Experience and understanding of Credit Unions or other financial institutions
Experience and understanding of the Police, Armed Forces and Prison Officers market
