The Diocese of Middlesbrough is transforming! Our structure of schools and academies have formed into 3 large Regional Catholic Academy Trusts serving the Northern, Central and Southern regions of the Diocese. These system leading Trusts place Catholic education in the Diocese at the forefront of the national schools system, securing outstanding Catholic education for all our children and young people whilst protecting and developing the Catholic identity and mission of our schools.

Following the previous successful openings of our Northern and Southern Regional Trusts, the Central Regional Trust, St Margaret Clitherow Catholic Academy Trust, opened recently and welcomed the first phase of 4 schools on 1st June 2019. A further three phases will see the inclusion of the remaining 14 schools into the Trust by 1st September 2019.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented person to shape and lead the HR provision within this brand-new role for St Margaret Clitherow Catholic Academy Trust. With a proven track record of working at a senior level, you will be a qualified HR professional with experience across a broad spectrum of HR matters. You will possess the ability to see both the bigger strategic picture and also support colleagues with bespoke advice and guidance – both in person, over the telephone and via email.

The HR service for the Trust will be delivered through a combination of internal and external HR support.   You will be responsible for working in partnership with the external provider to deliver an outstanding service to our schools, at the same time your remit will be to support the development of the central MAT team and support the CEO in the development of a HRM strategy for the Trust.

Your remit will include:

  • Support the development of the vision, strategic direction and leadership in the planning, management and development of effective HR operations across the Trust;
  • Lead on TUPE transfers and complex restructures;
  • Oversee the centralisation of the recruitment process across the Trust;
  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements;
  • Coach and develop management capability through planned and unplanned activities;
  • Ensure HR operations within the Trust are exemplary.

The role will require travel throughout the Trust however a central base will be provided within one of the Trust’s academies.
