An opportunity is available for a Bid Author to support an engineering services company supporting the energy sector. This would suit someone who has journalistic flair and has worked in engineering environments pulling together and delivering the content required for bids and tenders. Roles and Responsibilities: Purpose: The Bid author is responsible for the production of professionally written proposal content that clearly articulates the organisation's value proposition in line with agreed win themes and technical solution. This is a networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to demanding deadlines. Key Duties and Responsibilities Responsible to the Head of Business Winning for: Lead storyboard sessions with bid / proposal team members and key stakeholders Proactively develop and manage a network of subject matter experts Assist the Bid Lead in developing a proposal structure Identify and re-work existing pre-written content where relevant Deliver completed written proposal responses to the Bid Lead against agreed RFP deadlines, escalating issues as required Re-write / edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, technical / product teams, finance, commercial, legal and delivery Ability to coach sales teams and subject matter experts in writing best practice Present all new proposal content to the knowledge base manager for potential re-use To receive from others: A clear understanding of the required scope of supply (from the Bid/No bid team). Technical support from essentially involved functions. Key Skills and Competencies: Communicate and influence at a senior level Strong time management / prioritisation skills Strong written English language skills Excellent attention to detail. Ability to coach sales teams and subject matter experts in writing best practice Knowledge of tender preparation process. Working knowledge of electronic data management (MS Office Excel, Word, Visio & PowerPoint). Assertive and confident in managing and directing a diverse team of people/skills. Delivery of internal Best Practice. Knowledge of Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering. Qualifications: Degree, HNC or equivalent in an appropriate discipline. Professional Writing Background. APMP Qualification (desirable). Training will be provided in the job specific skills that are required. Full UK driving licence.
