Witness Support Officer - Edinburgh - ??190 per day

20-month contract

Our public-sector client has an interesting opportunity for a skilled Witness Support professional to be involved with an ongoing public inquiry based in Edinburgh City Centre for a 20-month contract.

As a Witness Support Officer your role will provide an integral link between those engaging with the Inquiry and the Inquiry Team. You must have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to deal with complex and sensitive issues and a high level of integrity and self-awareness.

From initial contact, the witness support team will provide the continuity of contact with witnesses through the various stages of the inquiry therefore a high level of professionalism is critical to this role.

Previous experience of working in a high-profile and public-facing environment and project management skills are essential for this role. The ideal candidate will be resilient to able to listen to and engage with people affected by trauma and abuse in the past and will ideally have worked on a previous public inquiry.

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience of speaking to individuals who have experienced trauma.
  • Must be resilient to be able to engage with and listen to witnesses.
  • Excellent report writing and document reviewing skills.
  • Ability to communicate and engage effectively with witnesses and colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and abroad with potential overnight stays.
  • The highest level of professionalism, confidentiality and sensitivity as you will be working closely with vulnerable witnesses and highly confidential information.

The ideal candidate will have previous professional experience in dealing with individuals who have experienced trauma and abuse and will have ideally worked on a public inquiry.

A Basic Disclosure Scotland will be required for this position.
