This will involve the evaluation of claims (patents, among other sources), synthesis and characterisation of materials by industrialised and step-out technologies, evaluation of third-party data (technology providers, Institutes, Customers), evaluation of relevant literature, modelling. Prove-out can be framed through organic growth, technology licensing/acquisition, joint development, or via a range of Open Innovation methodologies championed by Johnson Matthey's Innovation Factory

Challenge assumptions around products throughout the value chain. Represent Technology in third-party exchanges, incl. support to the Global Commercial team through direct Customer engagement

  • Support all Technology transfers from third-party sources into the business, seeking to maximise value to the company and executing to the highest standards to accelerate commercialisation outlook

  • Prepare internal Technology transfer packages to ensure efficient scale-up in line with NPI best practice. Provide technical support during down-stream commercialisation activities

  • PhD-qualified in materials science or chemistry; alternatively, demonstrable experience in a related field. Experience with battery materials and familiarity with related terminology is preferred

  • Ability to be detailed-oriented, but mindful of the power of Minimum Viable Product with the capacity to push through ambiguity
