Advocate (Care Act 2014)
Contract: part-time, 21 hour post

Do you want to gain experience in the social care sector? If yes, we have a short term vacancy for an advocate in a proactive advice centre.
The post holder will provide non-legal support to vulnerable individuals with multiple and complex needs across Derbyshire and Derby City to access care packages (through personal budget) to enable them to achieve their goals.
The post holder will work in partnership with Opportunity and Change’s project (OAC) delivery partners. The post holder will be based at our main premises in Chesterfield or at any other Law Centre premises within the catchment area. The post is funded through the National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
Must have Knowledge of the Care Act 2014, excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of clients, with multiple and complex needs.
Experience of working with different levels of statutory and voluntary organisations is desirable.
The post holder must be able to drive and have access to their own transport.

The Law Centre has been in existence since 1989 and has enjoyed support from public and voluntary sectors and communities across the county. Its primary aim is to provide free specialist legal services in social welfare law to individuals and families on low incomes. We specialise in: Community care, Debt, Discrimination, Employment, Homelessness, Housing, Immigration and Preventing Mortgage Repossession.
