Appointment of Chair to the Board of Londonderry Port and Harbour Commissioners

The Department for Infrastructure is inviting applications for the appointment of a Chair to the Board of Londonderry Port and Harbour Commissioners (LPHC). Foyle Port is a vibrant globally connected gateway to the North West of Ireland for both commerce and tourism. Supporting in the region of 1000 direct and indirect jobs and handling around £1billion worth of commodities annually, the Port makes a vital contribution to the North West regional economy. The Port handles approximately two million tonnes of cargo per annum.

At the heart of the Port’s Strategy is a Vision to grow and constantly improve the business and re invest profits for the benefit of future generations of stakeholders. This growth has taken place through increased diversification which has seen the Port branch out from its traditional operations to include: Engineering; Engineering Consultancy Services; and Marine Services.

Time Commitment and Remuneration

The appointment will be effective from 1 January 2020 and will run for a period of four years. The current remuneration is £26,799 per annum based on anticipated attendance of one to two business days per month. The Chair will be expected to attend all board meetings and other adhoc meetings as required. This may involve a commitment both inside and outside of normal working hours, including representing LPHC at occasional evening engagements.

Women, younger people, people with a disability and ethnic minority communities are currently under represented on the Board and applications from these groups would be particularly welcome.
