We have a fantastic opportunity for a Construction Manager with Housing experience at Large Main Contractor. Reporting directly into the Managing Director this role involves interfacing with clients, the design department, technical department and local authorities with responsibility for all activities.You'll be responsible for providing support and advice when required and if necessary take responsibility and resolve any problems. The role is very senior and would oversee all construction reporting to the board, managing the contracts managers and site teams. At peak there will be at around 15 live sites and up to 7 in pre-construction. Circa 1000 properties per annum. They will need to demonstrate a track record for delivering at this volume and managing teams within H&S, Quality and Site Delivery. Duties of the role will include: Ensure labour plant and material resources are efficiently utilised providing good notice of requirements and ensuring minimal wastage of materials Ensure all variations/additional works are recorded and liaise with QS to ensure all contractual notifications and correspondence is up to date at all times. Co-ordinate with clients/architects to ensure all information required is received in a timely manner Ensure responses within defect periods are responded to in an efficient and timely manner. Ensure all site staff are properly qualified and adequately trained to carry out their duties by continual assessment. Liaise with Health & Safety Manager to make arrangements for any necessary training. Check quality and performance of trades of all site works Ensure compliance with the company Quality Management System for all activities on site Prepare programme for submission within tender Ensure long lead in items are highlighted and actioned Check drawings and raise RFI’s etc to iron out issues before commencement Consider value engineering/amendment The successful candidate will illustrate: Relevant experience on UK new build residential development projects Proven negotiation/communication skills The ability to work closely with the other disciplines in the organisation (Technical/Production/Sales) to deliver value-driven high-quality developments within defined timescales The ability to manage workloads and other team members within defined deadlines A structured approach to cost control and reporting Proficient IT skills, in particular, the use of MS Office and Excel
