Senior Laboratory Technician (Analytical/Research)
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science on a fixed term contract ending 22nd July 2021. The School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science at the University of Manchester are highly-dynamic, World-leading teaching and research environments.
You will provide technical support, with some line management responsibilities within our teaching, research and analytical laboratories. You will work alongside the Laboratory Manager and the schools experimental officers to assist in the organisation of support for the school's laboratories. You should have excellent communication skills, as you will be required to provide advice and guidance to students and staff in the laboratories. You will be required to set a high standard of delivery and so should have excellent organisational skills. You will also support team members in ensuring that staff and students operate safe working practices ensuring health and safety compliance within the laboratories.
You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) with relevant work experience, or have experience in a similar technical, scientific or engineering role. You should be able to use your own initiative in solving day to day problems. Well-developed analytical skills are essential as is the ability to understand and interpret the technical requirements of staff and students.
