Construction Buyer Up to £40,000 Package Southampton A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a Hampshire based luxury residential developer who have been building superior homes in beautiful locations across Hampshire for many years. They are looking for someone who can operate as a Commercial Buyer to join their busy and growing team. As part of their continued growth, a position has become available at their Head Office in Southampton . You will be reporting directly to the Senior Commercial Buyer and will be a key part of the Commercial team who are responsible for the selection, specification and purchasing of quality goods and materials. Key Responsibilities · Undertake buying of goods and materials for the Group according the Groups purchasing policy. · Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external customers · Liaise with other functional/departmental managers so as to understand all necessary aspects and needs for operational development · In accordance with the Groups purchasing policy and purchase planning, ensure maximum benefit is achieved from the purchase, payment terms, rebates and negotiation of supplied goods and materials. · Select, negotiate and purchase material and plant detailed in the construction programme for each project, in accordance with technical specification and instructions received from Construction Management · Raise purchase orders and record material and plant ordered on the COINS accounting system · Manage the relationship with suppliers by regular meetings and telephone calls to ensure the Group achieves maximum benefit on cost and service from chosen and prospective suppliers. · Arrange and attend supplier meetings as required and authorised by the Senior Commercial Buyer to negotiate rates, costs, agreements, quality of products and fix deals. Qualifications and Sills · Construction purchasing/buying experience or CIPS qualified · Relevant Relationship Management Experience · Knowledge of construction and associated building regulations · Quality Management Systems and their application · Ability to problem solve and resolve complex issues effectively · Strong Negotiation, Communication and Presentation Skills · Ability to manage and deal with conflict · Influential and commercially aware · An all-round appreciation of the health and safety process and laws pertaining to the construction industry If you are considering a move and would like to discuss this role or would like career advice then please call Chris Grimes at Interaction Construction on / or email
