JOB TITLE: Mechanical Technician
LOCATION: Scottish Borders (Berwick–upon–Tweed, Eyemouth, Kelso, Dunbar, Duns)

WORKING HOURS: This role will require you to be on an on-call-rota, therefore flexibility is essential.
THE COMPANY: Ahlstrom-Munksjo Chirnside Ltd, based within the Scottish Borders, is a subsidiary of the Ahlstrom-Munksjo Corporation and is internationally recognised as a market leader in the design, process manufacture and marketing of specialist and nonwoven products.
We are currently looking to recruit a permanent Mechanical Technician to join our maintenance team at our Chirnside Plant.
THE ROLE: You will be responsible for day-to-day engineering and maintenance activities; ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards and maximising machine efficiencies. Key aspects of this role include maintaining, repairing or replacing, where appropriate, all mechanical equipment throughout the plant.
THE CANDIDATE: In order to be considered for this role, you will have complete a relevant time served apprenticeship/HNC or equivalent and live within a commutable distance of the Chirnside Plant.
You will have a demonstrable mechanical background ideally gained from within a manufacturing environment.
You will be experienced in machine tool operation and be capable of working to engineering drawings. You will also have proven experience of fabrication, pipe fitting and welding mild and stainless steel, using TIG, MIG and MMA processes.
A basic knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, steam and condensate systems would be advantageous. IT literate, you will ideally have experience with maintenance management systems.
Experience of condition monitoring and planning preventative maintenance is also desirable.

You will be highly motivated with a demonstrable track record of using your own initiative, working to high tolerances and working as an effective team member. Extensive training will be provided.
