Salary: £27,299 – £28,167 p.a. (plus £3,676 ICT allowance)
The PSNI’s Information and Communication Services Branch (ICS) installs, operates and supports the ICT systems that underpin policing in Northern Ireland. It has responsibility for the IT systems that enable day-to-day policing and back office functions, but its remit extends to telecommunications, radio systems for all emergency services, and CCTV and video systems.
The ICT Professional (Level 4) will work as part of a team to support ICT Level 5. They will manage teams who are developing and supporting the PSNI’s ICT systems and work to achieve the goals of the PSNI’s digital strategy. They will use good judgement and management abilities to understand the organisation’s needs and implement solutions using a structured and methodical approach. They will have a variety of functions. Depending on the situation, they will act as a systems developer, a help desk manager, a communications specialist or a standards specialist. At all times, they will adhere to the PSNI’s policies, procedures and protocols, and to the Skills for Information Age (SFIA) standards required of an ICT Level 4.
The role holder will hold a HNC, HND or foundation degree in computing or another ICT-related discipline and have two years’ experience in ICT development. Alternatively, they will have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in computing or another ICT-related discipline and one year of experience in ICT development. They will have good communication skills, knowledge of ICT project management and sufficient leadership skills to inspire confidence in their decisions.
Candidates must have a driving licence and a vehicle available for official business, which will allow them to meet the requirements of the post in full.
