Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation, are currently looking to recruit an HR Adviser, to be based in Edinburgh (homeworking), for an initial 5-month contract on a rate of c.??.50/day (inside of IR35). HR adviser will be jointly responsible for overseeing the management of the HR operational team


Advising on HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are applied fairly and supporting the practical and common-sense application of procedures
To advise on, and participate in, recruitment campaigns including the development of job descriptions and advertisements, and assessment and selection techniques
Leading projects and/or supporting colleagues to deliver projects, to support the implementation of corporate reviews and strategies
Develop, implement and monitor performance standards which ensure the team deliver high quality services and continuous improvement
Working with the other HR Advisers to ensure the team is motivated and developed to deliver against the standards required for their roles


An experienced HR professional with a proven track record of providing practical advice across the full spectrum of HR policies and procedures including absence and performance management, discipline, and grievance
Current knowledge of recruitment, selection and assessment techniques and the ability to work with managers to develop effective recruitment campaigns
Experience of leading an operational HR Team with a commitment to delivering a high-quality HR service
An excellent communicator with experience of delivering presentations and the ability to write clearly on complex and challenging issues
Excellent organisational skills including the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines across a number of different work streams
In-depth practical knowledge and application of UK employment legislation
Experience of providing autonomous advice, whilst knowing when to escalate issues or seek advice from our internal legal team
The ability to quickly build relationships and credibility with others and to work effectively with managers at all levels
