36¼ hour week
Plus contracted weekend work (rota system, additional payment)
Standby and call out payments
24 to 28 days leave (plus bank holidays)
Plus up to 10% pension contribution

We are recruiting for Water Production Operatives to work in our Production Operational Department. The department consists of a multi-disciplined team that are responsible for the day to day operation of Portsmouth Water’s production assets.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following;

• Visiting water treatment works, pumping stations, reservoirs and monitoring sites.
• Data collection and taking water quality samples (rota including weekends and bank holidays).
• Working on treatment and disinfection plant including chlorine and sulphur dioxide gas.
• Periodic cleaning of reservoirs, grounds maintenance along with other general activities to maintain the appearance, cleanliness and operability of our sites.
• Monitoring of external activities in the areas surrounding our works for any activities that may affect the integrity of the water sources.
• Participate in an out of hours standby rota.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, A to C grade GSCE English and Maths, computer and smart phone literate, flexible and have good attention to detail, working as part of a team ensuring all work is carried out in line with the Company’s Water Supply procedures and in full compliance with on-site Health and Safety. You will be willing to develop and learn within the role and have the flexibility and competence to operate and maintain multiple sites working at all times in line with our values of excellence, integrity and respect.

The role requires the following qualifications (full training provided where necessary);

• Working in High Risk Confined space (including the use of self-contained breathing apparatus).
• Full UK driving licence with categories B and BE. You will be required to undertake our Driver Assessment.
• Competent operator qualification (Level 3 Diploma in Water Treatment).
