Term time only (39 weeks)

The Local Governing Body of Bohunt School Worthing wish to appoint a highly organised, self-motivated and personable Clerk to join the school as soon as possible.

As the Clerk, you will work closely with the Head of School, Chair of the Local Governing Body, the BET Governance Lead and other colleagues across Bohunt Education Trust to support the Governing Body’s work as its professional governance adviser by:

  • Providing high quality administrative and organisational support to enhance the LGB’s effectiveness and efficiency
  • Providing expert guidance and advice to the LGB with respect to procedures, compliance and best practice as a local Governing Body of Bohunt Education Trust
  • Proactively contributing to the effective governance of Bohunt School Horsham and Bohunt Education Trust as a whole.

Hours will mostly be worked during term time and will include some evenings. The workload peaks relate to the Governing Body meetings which are scheduled well in advance for the full school year.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Chair of Governors, Head of School and the Trust Governance Lead but will be required to work with minimum supervision. Good computer and Microsoft software package skills are essential, as is the ability to work and communicate with a variety of
stakeholders. Previous governance experience in any capacity is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. You should also be interested in education and committed to the best interests of young people, as well as being able to deal with matters tactfully and confidentially.

If you feel you could contribute to our school’s success, please read the job description and person specification for further details and complete the support staff application form. If you would like to discuss
the role further please contact Lisa Day (lday@bohuntworthing.com) or Raine Ryland,
Trust Governance Lead on 01428 724324 in the first instance.
