The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in Bradford’s’ Exclusion Team..
The successful candidate will ensure that Bradford Local Authority meets all statutory requirements in relation to exclusions. You will identify and support pupils who are at risk of permanent exclusion with the aim of maintaining pupils in the mainstream environment and undertake casework with schools, families and other agencies/services. There will be opportunities to represent the Local Authority at relevant panels and secure alternative education for pupils who have been permanently excluded. To develop good practice you will advise, provide training, and support to parents/carers, children and young people, governors, school staff and other relevant professionals.
The successful applicant will have highly developed communication skill and have had experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and their families. You will have the skills and experience to display good problem solving, along with a passion for multi-agency working, being able to negotiate and act as an advocate as and when necessary. You will also be skilled at using databases to support case monitoring and producing reports for the Senior Exclusion officer.
