Home-Start Corby is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of children and families living in Corby, through the training and recruitment of highly skilled volunteers to undertake home visiting support with families in the early years of parenting.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of home visiting and responding effectively to the emotional and practical needs of families, while safeguarding and working closely with partner organisations.
They must:
- respond to and coordinate the work requested from families.
- undertake the safer selection, recruitment and training of volunteers, and match volunteers to the specific needs of families.
- support volunteers’ ongoing development through supervision and peer support and develop a skills audit of practical skills on offer for families.
- produce reports to a deadline and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of family support across the organisation.
- understand the need and requirement of accurate recording and able to demonstrate to new volunteers.
- assess and follow up referrals received from agencies.
- Arrange and attend multi-agency meetings (e.g. EHA, Child in Need) and follow up all safeguarding concerns as per policies and procedures;
- work under own initiative and as part of a team.
- You will have knowledge of and commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice and knowledge of current legislation and policies relating to children and families.
- hold a current driving licence and be able to use car for work purposes.
Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you must have a recognised qualification and experience in working with children and young people in a home visiting capacity, eg, a relevant degree, National Vocational Qualification Level 3, Social Work background or Family Support Work. It is essential that you have an understanding and experience of the early years of parenting.
