Sharing Voices (Bradford) is an award winning community development mental health charity. We work with people from Black Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities living with mental distress to enable recovery and facilitate the development of appropriate and responsive mental health services.
We are seeking a proven leader in the field of mental health service delivery who has an in-depth understanding of BAME mental health issues in Bradford and has led teams and built the competence and capacity of workers to address the needs of communities as well as influence policy makers and service providers.
Knowledge and experience of working with local communities in the city is a must as well as experience of working with all mental health stakeholders in particular the CCG, BDCH and local authority. You will be required to build understanding of mental health and establish better links between the community/faith sector and the wider statutory sectors through a community development method. We require the post holder to have a strong commitment to overcoming racial inequality and disparities in health and experience of advocacy related to this. They will also be required to represent the organisation at key external forums and will show confidence and assertiveness in promoting the work of SVB. The post is likely to involve some occasional evening and weekend work.
The post is a fixed term contract and will be reviewed on a consistent basis and may be subject to termination due to funding situation and or reviews around performance.
