Software Development Manager - Java

Software Development Manager required with strong technical heritage ideally in Java Development, line management and Agile Delivery skills in managing one or two Agile scrum teams, with a background in Agile (Scrum/Kanban/Lean/Spotify etc) technical delivery management for performant software teams is required to provide agile delivery, line management, agile facilitation/coaching/Scrum Master activities and stakeholder management is required by large world leading tech company in London.

As a Software Development Manager - Agile you will have skills/experience in

• Proven track record in delivering highly complex software centric projects ideally around Java or complex web centric event driven or distributed systems
• Provide line management, leadership and motivational skills to optimise the Agile project delivery of cross functional teams including Software Engineers, Product Owners.
• Experience of working with distributed, resilient and transactional systems/Java and the automated testing/deployment of these would be ideal
• Technical heritage as a developer ideally in Java or on multi-threaded/distributed performant systems/high availability systems/event driven systems etc
• Ability to assess and facilitate the right technical decisions driven by a mix of strong technical understanding with the ability to assess risk/reward etc
• Experience using agile methods for software delivery eg Scrum/Kanban/Lean/Spotify etc
• Understanding of modern Agile techniques and areas such as automation/CI/CD/DevOps, monitoring etc.

Key responsibilities as a Software Development Manager (Agile) would include

• Coaching/mentoring/optimising and line managing two Agile scrum teams to enable technical delivery of new features and enhancements
• Working with stakeholders the Product Owner to prioritise requirements/deliver features
• Identify and communicate delivery risks & timelines to stakeholders
• Act as a scrum master and advocate Agile best practises
• Working with architects and Software Engineers to agree on the technical direction

This role will offer a mix of office/home working when things return to normal.
