This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the highest performing fire services in the UK.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Officer to join our Facilities Management team to help maintain 40 operational fire stations across West Yorkshire and our extensive Headquarters site at Birkenshaw, Bradford.

Outline of Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the successful candidate will be knowledgeable in mechanical and electrical disciplines where they will manage technical services across all properties; predominantly in relation to mechanical and electrical installations, systems, controls and facilities to ensure operational integrity.

You will manage assigned consultants and contractors to ensure effective and timely delivery of services.

You will undertake Clerk of Works duties in regards to contracted-out works projects.

You will produce specifications, maintain technical libraries and asset databases, assist with the tendering of new contracts, approve works orders and authorise payments; and with some “hands-on” responsibilities.

Candidates must be prepared to work flexibly as necessary in support of front-line emergency services; be willing to travel throughout West Yorkshire; be physically capable of climbing ladders, accessing confined spaces and at height.

Essential job requirements:

You will have demonstrable experience in large non-residential buildings e.g. commercial, retail, public, industrial etc

Have practical working experience of varied mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.

Obtained an Electrical or Mechanical related NVQ level 2 or equivalent and ideally be a CSCS blue cardholder in a relevant trade or supervisory role.

Applicants must also have a car available for work purposes with valid business insurance and a reliable home internet connection.

The post is subject to a basic Disclosure and Barring Service Check and the possession of current valid driving licence.
