THE COMPANY: Our client based in Barnstaple, North Devon are media experts with trusted brands online, in print, on tablet and mobile. They pride themselves on bringing up-to-the-minute news to online readers with a strong focus on video and interactive content, while still producing a high quality print product which is known and loved in North Devon. They are currently looking for a hard-working, experienced and digitally-driven Senior Reporter to lead a team of news reporters across one of the biggest and most beautiful patches in local news.


THE ROLE: This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a successful media organisation. Your role will be based in Barnstaple, North Devon and you will be responsible for sourcing stories, making good contacts within the community, leading a team of reporters and helping to drive the organisations focus for exclusive digital news.


Key Responsibilities for the Senior/Chief Reporter to include:-
  • Working with the Head of content
  • Sourcing stories, preparing content for print and online publications
  • Making good contacts within the community
  • Leading a team of reporters and helping them develop

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate for the Senior/Chief Reporter role will hold a NQJ or equivalent qualification and have previous experience of working within a similar role. You will be expected to help inspire trainee reporters to ensure that readers continue to receive the trusted, accurate and reliable news they have come to expect.


Key experience essential for the Senior/Chief Reporter role:
  • Full driving licence and car
  • NQJ qualification or equivalent
  • 100wpm shorthand
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Expert social media knowledge
  • Experience of a busy newsroom
