Soft Landscape Supervisor

Experience required:

We are looking for three (3) full-time staff with at least two years’ experience in commercial soft landscaping as a Soft Landscape Supervisor; in particular the sector of New House Builds – from several to 100+ plots: This is an off-the-tools position, but you may be required to assist from time-to-time on the tools if required. You will need to be extremely proficient with turfing; including knowing how to prepare ground to turf with the use of rotovators and hand tools, tree planting (ALL sizes); including how to incorporate anchors and irrigation, shrub planting, with a sound horticultural background, knowledge and excellent skills of the above species, to be able to check the preparation and final installation to sign off works with your men and the site managers.

We are pro-actively seeking experienced, punctual, committed, well-mannered individuals, preferably non-smokers, who are keen and able to learn to grow as our business model is driven forwards. There are excellent possibilities to progress as your experience and company knowledge is taught through training.

You will need to possess the skills to be a team player as you will be looking after up to five teams of two or three men and the associated sites. You will be able to take instruction and if matters arise, have the confidence to speak to your Senior Supervisor in the first instance and address and work through a problem.

You will be required to meet deadlines as all sites have high expectations on our ability to deliver on time, every time with daily instruction to your supporting teams. You will have to possess a clear knowledge and have extensive experience of reading site landscaping drawings to ensure you lay out the plots according to them.

The ordering and delivery of stock will be your responsibility, together with collection of ALL delivery notes and stock control in terms of stock suitability. Management of waste is also crucial, so ordering the right materials at the right quantities for the right time to ensure the work is carried out to schedule is paramount to secure this is kept in line with contractual costs.

Within your development with the three stage supervisory promotional tiers is the desire to self-develop and manage all operational aspects of the contract including client liaison and contractual obligations.

It is imperative that on our sites you actively and pro-actively meet the standards for all Health & Safety and PPE guidelines – we operate a zero tolerance and as such it is your responsibility to take responsibility for your own day-to-day H&S matters and the safety of those around you in accordance with VDW Landscapes H&S policies, risk assessments and method statements

You will need to possess a full, clean driver’s licence and a recognised Horticultural qualification, such as an NVQ Level II minimum; preferably Level III or RHS certificates, II or III, but these are not essential if your skillset can be demonstrated to be of a very high level.

Essential is a Green – landscape operative card and preferably a ROLO training card which can be obtained through a one-day training course via BALI. If you are not in possession of these, please can you apply independently and pass the simple test prior to your application as we cannot interview or employ anyone without them. If you are the right candidate however, we may be able to pay and provide the ROLO and CSCS training courses on your behalf which will come with provisions for repayment.

Pay is commensurate with experience and overtime is paid. Paid weekly.
